How to port your phone number to Phound — video walkthrough

What is number porting?

Number porting lets you bring your existing phone number to Phound — so you don't have to change your number or notify your contacts.

When you port your number, your current carrier releases it to Phound. Your number stays exactly the same — what changes is which network it lives on. Everyone who already has your number can still reach you.

Keep your existing number — nothing changes for your contacts

No downtime — your number stays active throughout the process

Works for both mobile and landline numbers

No porting fees from Phound

Everything is handled in app. No forms to email.

Follow these 8 steps and our team takes care of the rest.

1

Access the porting section

Open Phound, navigate to the Numbers section, and tap Add Existing Number to get started.

2

Link or port your number

Choose between linking (use as an identifier only) or porting (full ownership transfer to Phound).

3

Fill out the porting form

Enter your phone number, carrier account number, and port-out PIN from your current provider.

4

Choose a port-out date

Select a transfer date at least three business days in the future. This gives your current carrier time to process.

5

Submit your request

Review all your details carefully, then submit the form. You'll receive a confirmation in the app.

6

Keep your current service active

Don't cancel your existing plan until porting is fully confirmed — cancelling early can interrupt the transfer.

7

Work with Phound support

Our team handles carrier verification and any documentation needed. We'll keep you updated the whole way.

8

You're live on Phound

Once porting is complete, your number appears under Active Numbers. You're all set — start calling and messaging.

Frequently asked questions

Can I port a toll-free number?
Yes. Phound supports porting of toll-free numbers. The process is the same as a standard port — enter your number and carrier details in the app and our team handles the rest.
What if I'm on a contract with my current carrier?
You can still port your number even if you're under contract. Your carrier is legally required to release your number when you request a port. Note that porting does not automatically cancel your current plan — you'll need to do that separately once the port is confirmed, and early-termination fees from your carrier may apply.
Will I lose service during the port?
No. Your current number remains active on your existing carrier right up until the moment the port completes. There is no gap in service.
What information do I need to start?
You'll need your phone number, your carrier account number, and your port-out PIN (sometimes called an account PIN or a transfer PIN). You can find these in your carrier's account settings or by calling their customer service.
Can I port a landline number?
Yes. Phound supports both mobile and landline number porting.
What if my port is rejected?
If your carrier rejects the port request, our support team will reach out to let you know why and help you resolve it. Common reasons include a mismatched account number or PIN — easy to fix and resubmit.
